When you leave a controlling partner, the order of what you do matters.

Most advice about leaving assumes the other person will act reasonably once you go. When they don't, the first few weeks decide a lot: what you copied before you said anything, what you put in writing, which accounts you could still see, how the first handoff of the kids went. Women tell me later that they would have handled that first month differently if someone had walked them through it ahead of time.

This workshop is that walk-through. You'll leave with a clear picture of what tends to happen after a controlling partner loses control, and a short written plan for your own situation.

What you'll learn

The escalation patterns

The predictable ways conflict escalates during a complex separation, and why an emotionally unsafe partner often tightens control after you leave.

What stress does to your case

How sustained stress affects your memory, your record keeping and the legal decisions in front of you, and what to do about it.

What to organize first

The documents, accounts and records to gather before you announce anything, and how to keep them somewhere safe.

The blind spots

The financial and custody details women often miss early, the ones that turn into leverage problems months later.

Your first 90 days

How to keep your body calm enough to think clearly through the first 90 days after separation, when everything feels urgent.

What you leave with

A short written plan: what to organize, what to hold off on, and what to bring to your first attorney meeting.
