Leaving does not always end the control. It can move into stressful co-parenting messages, document demands, and a complicated court process. I’m Stacy Bednar, MA, LPCC, a survivor of a 7+ year high-conflict separation and a licensed psychotherapist with 20 years of clinical experience. I know how these patterns play out. Through Motion to Rise™ coaching, I help women recognize what is happening, sort what matters, and prepare for conversations with their attorneys.

You read a message and feel pulled to answer before you have had a chance to think. Later, you are sorting screenshots while trying to remember what your attorney asked for. Your nervous system is spiraling and all you did was check your messages.
I help you spot the pattern, settle the physiological stress response before you answer, and bring your attorney the facts and questions that matter.
Your attorney handles the legal decisions. We handle what happens between appointments.
Learn to notice activation, pause, and decide what actually needs a response before you send one.
Keep dates, messages, documents, and questions in one place so you can find what counsel needs without rereading everything.
Go into legal meetings with focused questions, then track the actions you and counsel agree on afterward.
RISE is the method I use when a message or new demand sends everything into overdrive:
Recognize what is happening in your body before you answer.
Investigate what the message actually says and what you can verify.
Select whether to respond, document it, or ask counsel.
Execute the decision you made, then put the phone down.

High-conflict cases can put clients under pressure long before the next legal meeting. A hostile message, shifting accusation, or sudden demand may need careful sorting before the client speaks with counsel. I offer defined, nonlegal consultation to firms and private coaching for clients.
Counsel remains responsible for legal advice and strategy.
For individuals. Private coaching and Year One™ group work help you spot repeated tactics, steady your nervous system under pressure, and bring clear questions to counsel.
For legal teams. I offer referrals and scoped consulting support alongside counsel. The work is nonlegal and does not replace the attorney-client relationship.
Stacy Bednar, MA, LPCC, founded Motion to Rise™ after navigating more than seven years of post-separation litigation abuse herself. She has 20 years of clinical experience and knows how coercive control can keep a woman on alert long after she leaves.
Her coaching helps women recognize recurring behavior, regulate their nervous systems, and prepare clear information and questions for counsel. She also works with family law firms through defined, nonlegal consultation.
Coaching is separate from therapy and legal advice.
