A hostile message or shifting accusation can put a client on alert before your team has the facts. I help clients regulate that first reaction, recognize recurring high-conflict behavior, and bring you a clear account of what happened. I draw on 20 years of clinical practice and more than seven years navigating post-separation legal abuse myself. Through Motion to Rise™, I offer defined, nonlegal coaching and consultation. Your firm directs legal advice and strategy.

I work with Minnesota family law firms as a high-conflict divorce coach and law firm consultant. Firms bring me in as an embedded divorce coach on their high-conflict cases. I sit in on intake, coach clients between appointments, and prepare them for depositions, custody evaluations, and hearings. The work is coaching and psychoeducation, with the scope defined in writing before it starts. Legal advice and strategy stay with your team.
Clients get a place to work on regulation, communication, and preparation between legal meetings. Your team keeps legal advice and strategy. When a question calls for legal judgment, I send it back to counsel.
A stable starting point. Clients can practice regulation before a call or meeting, then give a clearer account of what happened and the questions they need answered.
A usable account of the pattern. We organize dates, messages, and source material so counsel can assess legal relevance without reconstructing a long, reactive update.
Preparation for high-pressure moments. Coaching includes grounding and concise communication practice before mediation, difficult meetings, or court-related events. Your team directs the legal substance.
Follow-through after advice. Clients track decisions and agreed-upon actions between appointments, with new legal questions returned to counsel.
Case-specific consulting: We define a nonlegal role around the client’s communication, information organization, and preparation for counsel.
Client coaching: With clear consent and roles, I can work directly with a referred client on the demands arising around the case.
Referral conversation: If Year One™ or individual coaching is a better fit, we can discuss that without sharing confidential files.
Before work begins, we agree on scope, consent, confidentiality, and communication with counsel. I do not provide legal advice, strategy, representation, therapy, or forensic opinions through Motion to Rise™.
Tell me what kind of support your client needs and where your team wants a nonlegal partner. Please do not send client names, files, or private case details through the website form. We can discuss scope and consent directly.

Stacy Bednar, MA, LPCC, founded Motion to Rise™ after navigating more than seven years of post-separation litigation abuse herself. She has 20 years of clinical experience and knows how coercive control can keep a woman on alert long after she leaves.
Her coaching helps women recognize recurring behavior, regulate their nervous systems, and prepare clear information and questions for counsel. She also works with family law firms through defined, nonlegal consultation.
Coaching is separate from therapy and legal advice.
